# template-out-down

Sets the **direction of the record run** for an output fill column: the column's records are written **downward** from the anchor, one cell per record.

`pebblestream:template-out-down`

`down` is the default, so the directive is only needed to make the intent explicit<br />or to override a sheet-wide convention. On the[`template-out-group`](template-out-group.md) column it instead means: when the
group changes, every data column's anchor advances **one row down**.

## Syntax

```
pebblestream:template-out-down
```

* No arguments.
* Placed on the **header cell of the output column** whose direction to set.
  Multiple columns may share it.
* Requires [`template-name`](template-name.md) on the same (output) worksheet.
* **Mutually exclusive** with [`template-out-right`](template-out-right.md) on the
  same column.

## Example

| column | header  | comment                            |
| ------ | ------- | ---------------------------------- |
| A      | `Total` | `pebblestream:template-out-header` |
| A      | `Total` | `pebblestream:template-out-down`   |

Records for the `Total` column are written downward from the located header.
